Twitter didn't kill my English blog so I'm doing it myself
For the past 8 years I’ve been blogging around, I’ve always tried to more or less maintain an English version of what I’ve been writing. Translating my articles was a way for me to improve my English writing, eventually being featured in YCombinator Hacker News. There was a time, long ago, when I used to translate my posts under the original one, sometimes switching version order when I wanted to emphasize the English one. I ended starting a dedicated blog for my English speaking only friends.
Tonight, after not updating it for 6 months, I’ve decided to close it. I know that cool URIs don’t change, but I don’t think the little I’ve been writing there will interest anyone. If you really can’t read French and want to read what I’ve been writing, I guess Google Translate is the best way to do it. After all, there has never been more than 5 subscribers to my RSS feed, including 3 spam bots.
The reason why I’m closing is pretty obvious. I have no time to maintain more than 2 blogs anymore. Unlike many people I know, Twitter did not kill my blogging habbits. But for the passed year, I’ve added many things to my already busy agenda, including a third kid, lots of tennis, and a few exciting projects I’ll tell you about soon. And I still want to find time to blog what I hope to be quality content.
