As my active but remote contribution to the IndieWebcamp UK 2014, I’ve pushed a Docker image of a full, ready to play with Publify install.

Just in case you don’t know, Publify is the Ruby on Rails based publishing system I’ve been using here for almost 8 years. It’s a full featured blogging platform with everything you can expect from a modern engine: tags, assets, custom theme, plugins… It also has a notes type you can POSSE to Twitter, with reply context implemented. It support Markdown, textile, auto links, Twitter handler detection, import from Flickr, code syntax highlighting, and also makes coffee if you ask it gently enough.

Testing Publify with Docker is easy as pie:

$ sudo docker pull fdevillamil/publify:latest
$ sudo docker run -d -p 3000:3000 fdevillamil/publify

You can now access your blog pointing your browser at

Remember: this Docker image is for testing purpose only. Using it as is, you’ll lose everything you’ve published when you stop the container! If you want to use it in production, I let you move the database somewhere and mount it as an external volume.
